What is Counselling
Counselling is a process in which a trained therapist can help you to understand and deal with difficult emotions that you may be experiencing. These can be linked with previous difficult life experiences. People often seek counselling when they are going through challenging times in their lives. You may be feeling low, anxious or depressed. I can help you make sense of what is happening and try to help you to find ways of dealing with this.
Who am I? I’m a qualified therapist practicing in Psychological Wellbeing, Counselling and Psychotherapy; I will offer a safe place for you to explore your difficulties: I won’t be able to give you all the answers but counselling may help you to find the solution most appropriate to you. Together we can explore and develop your self-awareness, helping you explore the things that can make life feel a struggle.
I speak from my own past experience of sitting in the counselled chair; I understand the daunting feeling of making contact for the first time; however what you experience once that contact is made, can be a journey of developing and connecting with your inner self. Working together there is no need to feel as if you are on your own.
I bring a wealth of knowledge to my counselling practice. For the past 12 years I have been working within the NHS. My experience has been gained working within multiple supporting roles, most recently helping with the growth and development of a Palliative Care Team.
Previously my voluntary working was in a supporting role working with people living with HIV/AIDS, Today I practice within a GP Surgery in the north west of Edinburgh one day a week, as well as running a small Private Practice within an office in the centre of Edinburgh.
