About me and my therapy practice
I provide FACE to FACE, ONLINE sessions via the Zoom platform and TELEPHONE Counselling Sessions. My therapeutic practice is grounded in extensive experience in mental health services and studies in psychology and counselling. If you are struggling with difficult feelings such as anxiety, sadness and anger, these can sometimes feel overwhelming. Being able to talk through your difficulties can help you understand your feelings and make things feel more manageable. I can provide a calm presence, listen to you without judgement and enable you to feel more confident and able to cope.
My approach is predominantly person-centred, this means I believe in peoples’ ability to find a way through uncertain or turbulent times by exploring what really matters to them. I enable clients to talk freely and openly about their struggles, which can allow them to develop their own solutions and insights. Some clients also want to learn about new ideas or how to develop positive coping strategies during therapy. I can support people with these aims by sharing ideas and experiential exercises from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
My first session
Before the first session, I will send you a copy of my counselling agreement, counselling contract and privacy statement via secure email. I will ask you to read and sign these with an e-signature. I will provide information in the email to make this process easier.
If you are attending face to face sessions I will provide the documents for you to read and sign in person.
During the first session I will complete an assessment with you to get a clear picture of your current difficulties/issues, the different areas of your life (how the issues impact these) and your goals for therapy. I will explain in detail how I work and discuss how you would like to work with me, so that the sessions can be tailored to meet your individual needs.
