About me and my therapy practice
Are you finding life difficult at the moment? Perhaps you are finding it hard to cope with loss or change, or you are experiencing anxiety or depression. You may be experiencing difficulties in your relationships with other people, or with yourself ; self-criticism and low self-worth can be very damaging and painful, and can negatively affect all areas of your life, including your relationships with others and your satisfaction with life. Counselling helps by giving you the time and space to talk about your feelings and experiences in confidence.
Research shows that the relationship between the client and therapist plays an important part in the healing process. I offer a warm and non-judgemental relationship based on respect and compassion, through which you can feel safe to explore the difficulties which have brought you to counselling. This will help you gain a better understanding of yourself and see things from a new perspective, and to make choices about your life and find new ways to cope with difficulties.
I’m an Integrative Relational Counsellor in Surbiton, Surrey, offering both face-to-face and online psychotherapeutic counselling. I aim to provide a calm, supportive and confidential space in which you can talk about whatever is troubling you.
I have a particular interest in working with people who have issues with anxiety, self-criticism, low self-esteem, shame, and low self-worth. I sometimes bring in elements of mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy, which have been proven to be very effective in helping with these issues.
My first session
During the initial consultation session you can tell me about what has brought you to counselling and ask any questions you might have, and I will give you some information about how I work. You can then decide if you feel comfortable working with me and I can assess whether I am able to offer you the help that you need. At the end of the session if you decide that you would like to work with me then we can agree a regular weekly time for your sessions.
