About me and my therapy practice

Presently I am only offering online [remote] sessions via Zoom or Bilateral Base [an EMDR specific platform].

Remote sessions vary little from an in-person face-to-face session.  Your first session will be an assessment, where you can tell me your story and I gather information.  We then mutually plan how we will work together.  I work in an informal, organic and gentle way, which suits most.

As an integrative therapist I pull upon a range of therapies, best suited to you and your circumstances.

Practice description

As an experienced integrative therapist I have access to a range of therapies.  I work very much with TA [Transactional Analysis] as my foundation stone and build on that with a mixture of EMDR, phenomenological, analytical, gestalt, existential therapies to name a few.

When working in-person I use a lot of creative tools including Sand Tray therapy; this is a 3D medium in which to explore what cannot be verbalised.

People often ask what I specialise in and over the years I have answered bereavement, anxiety, trauma etc.  If you ask me now my answer would be "you"; you are my speciality.   I tend to work long term and most clients stay with me over months and sometimes years.

I am also fully trained in EMDR therapy a specialist neuro-therapy for the treatment of trauma.  A branch of EMDR: Attachment Informed [Focused] EMDR is really useful in treating anxiety amongst other concerns.

My first session

I will meet you in our session room [either remotely or in my consulting room], before we begin I cover confidentiality and any other housekeeping or business matters.

I then complete an assessment, which takes in your present situation, your history and what you hope to achieve.

We plan how we will begin our therapy, and thereafter our sessions become organic and process-led.

I believe therapy is like life, it has a beginning, a middle and an end, our assessment is our beginning, the therapy is the middle and our ending comes with actualisation and autonomy, and is both obvious to you and me.  It is then that we say goodbye knowing that if you need me in the future I am just an email away.
