About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychotherapist specialising in one-to-one therapy to adults covering loss and grief work. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I also have a masters in Health Psychology. I spent many years working in higher education, teaching consultation skills to medical students and was also responsible for supporting students who were struggling.
I specialise in seeing clients who have experienced loss and grief. Even in situations where we do not experience bereavement explicitly – in divorce, for example, or when events conspire to permanently deny us certain opportunities – we can experience this shattering dimension of loss.
It can be very difficult to talk about these issues, others do not know what to say to you, and may even minimise your loss, which can be very traumatic. It can be a great relief to speak to someone non-judgmental, who really listens and can understand the world from your perspective.
It may be helpful to reflect, explore and examine your life with an approachable, experienced and understanding therapist. This is where I can help. Together we can make sense of your situation and find a path through. There can be a fear of shame or failure in asking for help, or showing vulnerability but actually these are signs of strength. I can support you in your courageous step to ask for help and walk alongside you as we explore your experiences.
Practice description
I offer two options; either you can have sessions over Zoom, or if you would prefer face-to-face sessions, I am using professional rooms in Enfield where we can be 2 metres apart in a comfortable space together.
Details of the location and the covid-19 protections we have put in place will be discussed when we agree to meet face-to-face.
My first session
Our first session together is for you to tell me anything you would like me to know about why you are seeking a therapist. I will ask you some questions about you and your life; and answer any questions you might have about the way in which we might work together.
The most important thing for any client is that you feel that I am someone you could say anything to, that you feel I would not judge you or disapprove of you. My role is to hear whatever you have to say and to guide you out of the shadows you find yourself beneath.
