I work both in person and online, with certified ACTO training in online therapy.
About me and my therapy practice
I support people dealing with loss, change and anxiety. This can be the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, loss of a job or simply feeling a bit lost in life itself. I also deal with men's issues as men often more reluctant to seek help but are often seen as in the highest risk groups for anxiety and burnout. I also support LGBT clients.
I am a BACP registered Integrative Counsellor and Therapist with a Person Centred foundation. As a member of BACP, I follow its Ethical Framework. This ensures counsellors and therapists keep the wellbeing and safety of clients at the core of their practice. I keep up to date in my skills and competencies with regular CPD training. As with all therapists, I have regular supervision and am fully insured.
I offer both in person and online therapy, with further qualifications in online counselling and am a registered member of ACTO - the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online. I also work with people outdoors as I am a great believer in the healing power of nature. In all situations, you can be assured of high quality commitment, respect, attention and privacy. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable, safe and heard.
Practice description
I am an Integrative therapist with a Person Centred foundation. But what does this mean? Basically, I believe you know yourself best but at the moment you're probably feeling anxious, lost or uncertain. By observing and understanding your concerns, I can work with you to explore and work through whatever is on your mind and find a path ahead. I believe this approach helps people feel more empowered and can lead to profound change. As an Integrative Counsellor and Therapist, I draw on various skills and approaches depending on what works best for you. It is important that I work alongside you to understand your issues, needs and, if appropriate, your goals. Whatever the approach, I am there to help you explore, reflect and better understand what’s going on for you and how we can make things better.
Sessions are an hour and are usually weekly to give us continuity but depends on your individual circumstances. I offer online counselling or face to face sessions in a quiet, discrete space in central Exeter.
My first session
I understand you may be feeling nervous or unsure about what to expect and that is okay.
I offer a free 30-minute phone or online consultation to discuss your needs and if I am best placed to support you. If you feel it is right for you, then we can book our first session where we can explore a way forward that suits you. The BACP rightly insists that we make an agreement together from the start and this is to ensure that I am meeting your expectations and abiding by its Ethical Framework.
Our first session will give us a chance to get to know each other better and explore how we may work together. I work in a way that best suits you. It may be that you just need a safe and quiet space to unpack and explore feelings that are troubling you. It may be that you want to make a change or challenge your way of thinking to be the best version of yourself. Either way, I offer a secure, non-judgemental and respectful space for us to work together.

I also deal with men's issues. Men are often the most reluctant to seek help but also often at a greater risk of anxiety and burn out. I work online with specialist training in this format. Online counselling appeals to many of my clients as it offers flexibility and saves them travel costs and time.
