About me and my therapy practice

I have been a practicing therapist  for 8 years and  its an absolute privilege to be allowed into peoples lives  and  to be a part of their healing process.

I find working in a person centred way allows people to go at their own pace , and my strength lies in my ability to offer a therapeutic space of warmth and compassion .

I have also achieved the BACP Accreditation which demonstrates that I work with high standards of knowledge , experience and my dedication to continuous professional and personal development .

Practice description

I have been fortunate to have worked in a trauma service as a counsellor for , 4 years .This service  specialises in working therapeutically with survivors of Abuse - Rape, Sexual Assault ,Child sex abuse , Physical abuse , Coercive control , and Emotional abuse . This was a wonderful organisation and has given me great competence in working within this field.

My role in the counselling room is to sit alongside clients and let you be  heard without judgement and without telling you how they should or shouldn't feel .

I provide a space for you to be given a voice . Often there's a lot of confusion, self blame and shame which leads to low self esteem , anxiety and depression .

The therapeutic relationship  allows the healing process to begin .

We work together to rebuild life.

I currently have a counselling role within an organisation that offers housing with supported living for individuals who have been rough sleeping  or have had housing difficulties.

I also currently work for an organisation offering counselling to university students .

My initial training was at men's prison.

Additionally I have very valuable experience of counselling students in a college.

I offer a free 15 minute introduction (if requested ) , either by phone or zoom , this enables you to decide if you feel I am somebody suitable for your therapy.

My first session

In the first session I will briefly discuss the main points in the counselling contract and answer any questions / concerns which you may have .

We will also do a short  assessment to establish what brings you to therapy and what you from the therapy  and to allow us to know what we are working through. It enables me to see what life is like for you, to walk in your shoes .
