About me and my therapy practice
My name is Shanne and I am a qualified person centred counsellor.
I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space, where we can explore any difficulty or struggles you have at the moment or may have had for a while. Together we will work on overcoming obstacles, worries, pain, loss or grief. This is done at your pace, where I provide you with the space to explore, talk or simply be, whilst I bring empathy and attentiveness to the sessions, allowing you to feel heard.
We all experience times in our lives which are hard, times we feel stuck or overseen, worries take over and we struggle to find a way back or out of it. You may suffer from loss, bereavement, anxiety, low self-esteem or simply want to talk about worries or concerns.
I may also include other approaches in the work with we do too and I therefore work in an integrative way. This may include art, walk and talk or other, but all will be discussed with you prior.
I believe we are all unique and the approach used will therefore be catered for your needs. You may be challenged if I feel that you are stuck, we do not move forward or we recognise that you are repeating patterns. This will be done in a way that suits you best.
My practise is in my home, where I have a calm and quiet space where I see clients. If sessions take place over the phone or online (such as Zoom or other) I am able to work un-disturbed, also in a quiet and calm space too - I am happy to show this space to you via facetime if you would like to see the space and thereby feel safe that the space is confidential.
I do not have any waiting area, so would ask you to arrive on time for your session; and therefore not too early, as I would prefer each client to have their privacy. I do leave a gap between clients to avoid bumping into anyone on your way in or out. Parking outside the house, or just around the corner.
I have worked with people all my live, both in the capacity as a counsellor, a complementary therapist, as a learning mentor and as a health care assistant and have experience with children from the age of 2 to adults of all ages.
My first session
In the first session we will spend time to go over the contract, get to know another and as well as set out boundaries. You are of course free to talk about anything once we have discussed the initial agreement.
We can agree a number of sessions you have, or we can leave it open-ended. If you have a limited number of sessions, we may have to work more focussed on a few issues or worries. We will meet or talk on a weekly basis, and each session is 50 minutes.
