About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes we feel stuck and can’t seem to find a way forward by ourselves. I am here to provide you with a safe space to explore what may be blocking your path and overcome difficulties in order to get back into the stream of life.
We are all unique individuals, which is why I find a person-centered approach to be most helpful in truly understanding your perspective and helping you find your path. I also have a toolbox of other approaches that I draw from depending on the needs of the individual. These include but are not limited compassion focused, mindfulness, dialectical behaviour therapy, narrative and existential therapy.
I work within a trauma-informed feminist lens that acknowledges the impact of systems of oppression we live in, and I work from a Health At Every Size/Intuitive Eating perspective when it comes to body image and eating issues.
I am passionate about and drawn towards working with issues of oppression/empowerment, growth through adversity, and overcoming unhelpful narratives handed down to us in early life.
Practice description
I am based in south west London and I currently offer online and telephone counselling. There is no one-size-fits all so we would agree together as to how often and for how long you would like to come to therapy. My sessions last for 50 minutes.
It’s important for you to find someone who is the right fit, and this can be even more difficult for people with marginalised identities. I therefore offer a free telephone consultation for us to get acquainted and get a feel for whether this would be a good match.
I am committed to lifelong growth and learning for myself as my practice evolves over time. Some of my recent areas of interest include women’s empowerment, the body liberation movement, and the power threat meaning framework.
My first session
Your first session with me is a space for us to discuss in further detail what brought you to therapy and for you to ask me any questions you may have about this process. I can take some time to feel safe in this space and for us to develop a trusting working relationship, which is why I let you guide the pace. There is no expectation as to the “right” way to do this, and I will never pressure you to reveal anything beyond what you are comfortable with.
There will be some minimal paperwork to take care of in the first few minutes, and then we will proceed with the session. In getting to know you better we will also start to identify some goals for your time in therapy with me, so that we can get a sense of our progress moving forward.
