About me and my therapy practice
I’m a qualified and registered BACP counsellor providing counselling for adults and young people in Oxfordshire. I offer both short-term (6-12 sessions) and open-ended therapy.
Trying to work though painful feelings or stressful life events alone can be very difficult and sometimes we don't want to talk to friends or family about it. Counselling provides a regular confidential space to talk about worries, concerns and difficulties with someone who is trained to listen attentively and help you improve things. Research shows that counselling can help us through difficult times and find a way forward.
I am trained in multiple approaches and work integratively, using principles from person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
How talking therapy can help
Talking about your feelings can help you stay in good mental health and deal with times when you feel troubled. Talking about your feelings isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s part of taking charge of your well being and doing what you can to stay healthy. Talking can be a way to cope with a problem you’ve been carrying around in your head for a while. Feeling listened to can help you feel more supported.
My first session
What can I expect in the first session?
During our first meeting, we will discuss what you hope to get out of therapy. We will also begin to consider your personal background and any issues that you are facing in your life. The first appointment is a good chance for us to see how we work together, we would normally then meet on a weekly basis.
