About me and my therapy practice
It can feel hard, sometimes impossible, to change the way we think, behave and react to certain situations. If you gain an increased understanding by exploring patterns then this can help you make sense of things, which can help you feel more in control and manage emotions that otherwise feel overwhelming.
The therapeutic relationship is unique. I lay the foundation for the work we can do together. Feeling truly understood can be a rare experience that allows you to open up and to discover more about yourself. With an increased self-awareness can come a more regulated way of being and thinking.
I work psychodynamically and prefer long-term but we can discuss what suits your needs during the initial stages. I offer weekly sessions as I think this allows for in-depth work with time for reflection in between.
I believe that a big part of how we interact with the world around us is developed during early years. I would want to explore these with you so we can understand how they affect you today. However, the sessions would be led by you and the material you want to bring.
My first session
The first session is similar to a therapy session but may last a little longer. It allows me to find out more about you, what you want from therapy and for us to see if it's a good fit. I believe the relationship plays an important part in the work and I also want to make sure I have the tools to help you. If I feel I can't but can point you in the right direction, I will do so.
If you have some questions, we can have a chat on the phone beforehand at no extra cost.
