About me and my therapy practice

Counselling doesn’t have to be due to trauma, a major disaster or tragedy…Sometimes you just need to know somebody cares.

Whatever it may be, if it creates feelings of dissatisfaction, disillusionment or pain, You may hear yourself saying ‘Help’.

Help is the beginning of not giving up, a place where sometimes if we are honest, we all find ourselves. Asking for help permits someone to help you to reveal your own solutions. Because only you knows what is right for you.

I believe that the client always knows what is best for themselves. However, sometimes we all need a little help to find out just what that is.

Counselling is one way of finding out how to heal yourself. Counselling is part of that journey, to finding your solution. I would be privileged to go with you on that journey.

Any therapy starts with the relationship. Our first discussion will be a free initial conversation to see if I am right for you.

Practice description

I practice as an Integrative counsellor which means I start at a person-centred base, but I am able to blend aspects of other main models of therapy. As a qualified Integrative therapist, I am able to be flexible in my approach to your issues, switching modalities seamlessly. This means that this form of counselling is both adaptive and fluid. I have experience of working with many presenting issues, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, trauma and other dilemmas.

Yet from wherever we start, it is always you who is the best expert for you.

My first session

Before we sit down to start having sessions, we will have discussed your issues on a telephone or video call which will be free of charge for 20 minutes.  Following an agreement to start therapy I will provide you with a detailed counselling contract to ensure you understand all the ways in which I will conduct therapy.

In our first session, as we will have already agreed that we will start therapy, there is a short questionnaire that allows me to be aware of any serious issues.  From that point on the time is yours and I will be there to listen, prompt or wait until you are ready to begin.

If you wanted to discuss payment for block bookings after our first session, I will offer a discount.  Or you just pay for each session as they are due.

I will provide reduced fees to students and counselling students at £30 and offer savings on block bookings. We can discuss this further once we know we are able to work together.
