About me and my therapy practice

As a counsellor for Red Maple Counselling, I  offer all clients a safe, empathic, non-judgemental space to explore, overcome and better understand the challenges and concerns that they are experiencing.

My journey as a counsellor has involved working with a diverse and complex range of client groups. I  have supported clients who have experienced challenging relationships, family conflict, are survivors of domestic violence and abuse, as well individuals who feel they experiencing low confidence, anxiety and depression. Another aspect has been supporting clients who have undergone substance mis-use. I am able to consider how our backgrounds and cultural experiences can impact upon the way we experience the world and our relationships with others. As a client, you are offered an experience that is empathetic and individual to your journey.

My previous client work has involved working in Children's centres with parents with who have children aged between 0-19. As such, I understand the pressures of raising children in potentially challenging circumstances. I am able to consider and reflect upon the role of mothers, fathers and also the impact of cultural experiences upon these roles.

I have experienced working with culture, identity, parenting, life events as well health-related concerns. My practice has evolved to work with clients from ethnic minority backgrounds and more specifically the South-Asian Community.  I feel that I am able to offer a space to reflect, talk and explore without any fear of judgement or direction. My experience of working in Educational Organisations and with students who have additional support needs has also informed my counselling practice.

Practice description

At this moment in time, I am offering Telephone and Online Counselling.

Ordinarily, my practice is based in the Northfield Therapy Centre on the first floor. A location accessible by train, bus and car.

As a person-centred Counsellor, I aim to work collaboratively with you to ensure that you are the center of process. This means working safely, ethically and without judgement.

My first session

All clients are offered an initial assessment. These are carried out either on the telephone or face to face in line with social distancing guidelines from August 5th 2020.

This is your opportunity to ask questions, see if I am the best fit for you, and to consider whether you want to access Counselling. This is a fifty minute session, to explore and understand what might bring you to counselling and reflect upon how you want to use Counselling.
