About me and my therapy practice

I am a CPCAB qualified practitioner with a Level 6 Diploma, with an MSc in Psychology and 1000+ hours of client work.

I have a lot of experience working with anxiety, addiction, trauma and depression.  I also offer couples counselling.

Are you feeling as though you’re somehow stuck, repeating the same patterns of behaviour again and again, in relationships and in life? Perhaps covid has exacerbated your problems, either due to the proximity of others or of being isolated from those you love, leaving you lonely, anxious and depressed or any number of other emotions you are struggling to live with. Together we could explore how you relate to others and harmful patterns you may be repeating, either consciously or unconsciously and the ways in which you may be responding to various things you encounter.

If you're overwhelmed, feeling vulnerable or struggling with any of the above in your personal or professional life, then perhaps counselling can help.

As a Person-Centred therapist, I will not try to change your thinking or tell you what you should do. Instead, my training will enable me to create a relationship which supports your process of self-exploration and self-acceptance, and in which you can experience psychological growth. The goal is to help you in making the decisions that are right for you, as you are the expert on yourself, you may just need some assistance to find those answers.

My aim is to meet you in your uniqueness, welcoming whatever you wish to bring and holding the space for you safely. You may be looking for some short-term work around a specific issue or want to work longer-term to process deep-seated feelings and experiences.

Hopefully, this can be part of your journey towards self-discovery and awareness, self-acceptance and even self-love. Ultimately allowing you to grow beyond negative thoughts and behaviours and live your life more fully.

Practice description

I offer both face to face and online sessions for individuals or couples.

To help you decide if you would like to go ahead with therapy, I am offering a free 15 minute Zoom or telephone consultation with no obligation to continue, but simply to allow you the opportunity to ask me anything about myself, my work or counselling in general, or simply to get a sense of whether you feel we click.

I have been described as a direct, but calm and holding therapist who allows clients to feel heard. I can allow you to explore new perspectives, whilst I provide non-judgmental support and reflection.

I'm an integrative therapist which means I draw from a range of therapeutic models according to individual client needs. I believe in my ability to form strong relational alliances. This has developed from many years working in client focussed roles. My belief is that a strong relationship aids the therapeutic process.

I have over 15 years professional experience of working one-to-one with people from all walks of life. This has included coaching, tutoring and counselling; both privately and within an addiction clinic, a psychiatric ward and educational settings.

I have worked with a very wide range of issues but I have specialised in addiction, trauma, masculinity, long-term illness, anxiety and depression.

I have extensive experience of working in a diverse range of counselling and mental health settings, as well as Schools, Colleges and Universities. I have also worked as a Psychologist at post-graduate level.

My first session

Our first session will include an assessment that will allow me to learn a little more about your history and the issues you are currently facing.

It might include goal setting, as well as going over issues such as confidentiality, how counselling might work and hopefully will give you an idea of whether or not you would like to work with me going forward.
