About me and my therapy practice

I have over 17 years of experience working with children, young people and adults. I work in person, in my own therapeutic space in the North-West, and anywhere by Video or telephone. Whilst my training in the Person-centred approach underpins all my work, I am also trained in CBT. I started working with children as a primary school teacher and now as a therapist, I work in one of the leading centres for counselling children and young adults in the North-West. Alongside my therapeutic work, I am a college lecturer helping enable trainee counsellors to achieve their first professional qualification.

I am now making available time for private practice deploying all the skills I’ve accrued in my 17 year career. I am a BACP member and experienced therapist trained in person centred counselling and CBT. I offer a safe space, where I will listen compassionately, share knowledge and strategies, empathise and personalise your therapy to reflect your needs.

I provide a trusted, quality service, working with a range of personal, work and school related issues, e.g. anxiety, depression, OCD, panic, self-harm. I have extensive experience of working with neurodiversity, ADHD in particular, the NHS, Occupational Health, with children and young people and with their parents or carers.

Practice description

My belief is that all human beings have within themselves the natural resources and ability to alleviate emotional blockages, when in the right environment. I do my utmost to provide such an environment in which clients feel safe, seen, feel comfortable to open up and explore what is troubling them. I have a willingness to listen with warmth and without judgement and feel that this allows clients to explore and express their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, in a safe space.

I treat my clients with respect, honesty and warmth, listen attentively and communicate empathic understanding. I strive to offer a genuine and compassionate tailor made approach, when walking alongside my clients.

I offer person centred therapy and CBT. These can be delivered separately or integrated. I also work with clients using art as a creative medium, which promotes empathy, self expression and self-understanding. Creating art can be incredibly therapeutic and healing and when brought together with the person-centred approach, can be very powerful, yet gentle .

I believe that we all know what’s best for ourselves however, in our unique worlds, we often forget or struggle to be in tune with ourselves. I strive to work with my clients to discover their way forward. I am committed to continuing to develop my work through continuous training, to ensure my practice is as well-informed and as competent as possible.
