I provide a service on Monday evening and on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30am to 9:00pm. Currently, due to Covid19, this is by Zoom, Skype & Phone.

About me and my therapy practice

At present, due to Covid19, I am not offering face to face contact from my consulting room in Seaton, Devon. However, I have been using Skype & phone to provide psychotherapy & counselling since 2005 and recently have added Zoom.

I qualified as a Psychodynamic Counsellor in 1989, as a Chartered Psychologist in 1996, as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in 2000 & as a Psychoanalytic Supervisor in 2001. I used to work in the NHS for many years, where I was the Clinical Lead of an Individual & Group Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Service. Subsequently I was the Clinical Lead for all the Psychologists working in Community Mental Health Teams in a large, urban area. I' ve had a private counselling & psychotherapy practice for more than 30 years and I've been a Visiting Professor, teaching psychoanalytic psychotherapy at Masaryk University in the Czech Republic since 2009. I'm a member of The British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, The British Psychological Society and The United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists - Council for Psychoanalysis & Jungian Analysis. I trained with and am a member of the Guild of Psychotherapists - a pluralistic training organisation based on the ideas of Jungian analysis & Psychoanalysis. More about me and the way I work can be found on my website;

Practice description

At the moment, due to Covid19, I'm not offering face to face contact from my consulting room in Seaton, Devon. However, I have been using Skype & phone to provide psychotherapy & counselling since 2005 and so I'm confident that I can provide an excellent therapy & supervision service using this type of technology. I provide Psychoanalytic, Jungian and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Counselling, Couple Counselling & Supervision by Skype, FaceTime, Zoom or Phone for anywhere in the world including: the UK, continental Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore & Hong Kong.

Of course it may seem difficult working with a therapist you haven't met in person, but, currently you may have concerns regarding coronavirus or, because of covid 19, you may be self isolating or there may not be an appropriately qualified and experienced Psychotherapist or Counsellor working locally or you may be pressed for time and welcome being able to access therapy from your home or workplace or, as a couple, it may be convenient to have therapy in the evening on the living room sofa when the children are in bed. Besides which, Freud, in his practice, did not have visual contact with his clients during the session, because the client was lying on a high backed chaise longue and Freud's chair was up against this high back looking at right angles away from the client. Freud felt that the client being relaxed and feeling unintruded upon was more in touch with their inner processes.

I can help you to address these issues using a Psychoanalytic, Jungian and Psychodynamic approach. Please feel free to call, text or email me to have a free preliminary discussion to explore whether I can provide a suitable service for your needs.

My first session

In the first session I'll ask you about your current difficulty and about your life generally - growing up, school, any losses or other significant events, any relationships, etc.

At the end of this initial meeting, I'll let you know about the simple boundaries and bureaucracy of the therapy process;

 - Payment is by bank transfer, cheque or paypal and is £55 for individual therapy (50 minutes) and £85 for couple therapy  (75 minutes) and payment can be per session or at the end of the month.

- Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will usually be charged, unless the session is re-arranged.

-Everything discussed in the session is confidential, unless you disclose something which is about you  or someone else being in immediate and serious danger

- You are encouraged to talk about whatever occurs to you, this includes things like; memories, dreams, recent events or anything that is occuring to you in that moment.

-Sessions are usually weekly at a specific time, but they could be more or less frequent, depending on what suits you.

-There is no set amount for the number of sessions and you can end whenever you want.

At the end of this initial session, you decide whether to go ahead with the therapy or you might want to think about it a bit more and let me know after a few days.
