About me and my therapy practice

I am currently offering Telephone and Online therapy due to Covid-19 and I am offering concessions if you are concerned about the effects this virus will have on your income. I am a qualified Relational, Integrative counsellor/psychotherapist offering you a safe, confidential space to explore your individual concerns, experiences, hopes and goals

Integrative means my knowledge, tools, techniques and experience encompasses Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) therapies. I have also trained as a Couples, Mindfulness and Compassion Focused practitioner as part of my personal and professional development. I can therefore tailor my approach to suit your individual needs and wishes.

My way of working is described as Relational, which means that I consider relationships to be very important and we will endeavour to build one that allows you to feel safe, understood and respected. We will explore your past experiences (including relationships) and identify ways in which they may still be influencing your thoughts, beliefs, behaviours, emotional well-being and current relationships. I also think its important to focus on areas of your life that can bring you Happiness, Joy, Compassion and Resilience and this is based on the current Positive Psychology evidence and research.

I am approachable, compassionate and trustworthy; offering a safe, confidential environment for us to collaboratively explore your individual concerns and experiences and work towards the goals, change or acceptance you desire. There will be ongoing reviews to assess the way we are working together and make sure you are getting what you want from therapy.

I work with 2 Wish Upon a Star and I run SPARCL, both of which support families through child loss. So I do a lot of trauma, bereavement and loss work.

I attend regular supervision and am a Registered member of the BACP (091133) and therefore I adhere to high professional and ethical standards.

I usually provide training on a Friday, however, with some notice I can do any day except Tuesday. My Public workshops are usually on the weekend.

Training usually runs from 10-4.30, but this is flexible depending on your needs.

Workshops run 11-4.30.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a psychotherapist/counsellor, trainer and work-shop facilitator working in the South Wales area. During my training on the HE Certificate in Counselling Skills and the Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative), I worked as a residential care worker with adults with learning difficulties (2 years) and with Young People (3 years). This experience (positive and negative) encouraged me to develop training that would help both staff and young people. I have since worked with Bereavement and loss in Cancer Information Support and Services (CISS) (2012 -2015) and 2 Wish Upon a Star (2015 - Present). This year I have also set up SPARCL, who also support families through child loss with Support groups and workshops.

I also hold a degree in Genetics (2:1) and a Doctorate in Genetic toxicology and I worked as a Research assistant for 2 years.

I started providing training in 2017 to Residential Care Homes that supported young people. Since then the training has expanded to other organisations and to public workshops.

Training is £360 for the day for organisations, or bespoke training can be arranged at £60 per hour. For public workshops I charge £30 per person.

These are examples of previous trainings and workshops that I have run, but as mentioned I offer bespoke training and I can tailor the training to your desired topic and needs: -

• Understand How Early Life Experiences Shape our Behaviours and Relationships (An Introduction).

• An Introduction to Mental Health Problems in Young People.

• Improving Communication in Residential Care (An Introduction to basic Communication skills)

• An introduction to Mental Health and how to promote in within the workplace.

• How to improve communication within the workplace.

• A Mindful Journey of Self-discovery

• Happy Hour - how to improve your happiness
