About me and my therapy practice
I provide a safe and reliable environment where you lead the work and are given the freedom to explore issues without judgement.
I specialise in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, which is an in-depth and transformative form of therapy and counselling. I combine the use of unconscious analytical dynamics with open empathy through active listening. This will allow us to effectively integrate elements of past suffering, or unconscious complexes, into active awareness where things can be worked through and healed.
Psychodynamic therapy is based on the oldest and most well established form of psychotherapy- psychoanalysis, but is more dynamic and compassion focused. Unlike other therapies, psychodynamics is more like a journey than a prescriptive tool. I work with you, helping you to derive meaning and make sense of both past and present.
This form of therapy and counselling is long term and works best with people who are curious about their inner life, and are ready to make a commitment to their own development. It is not an easy therapy, and it is not quick, but it has the potential to provide real, meaningful change. Many people who have tried CBT and have found that it hasn't worked for them often do better in psychodynamic therapy.
I have extensive experience as a therapist, both privately and within the NHS. I help people with all sorts of issues, but most often these are depression, anxiety, phobias, relationship difficulties, self esteem, trauma, low mood, sexual dysfunction, childhood problems, loneliness, bereavement, and OCD.
Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice, University of Oxford (2019).
MSc in Theoretical Psychoanalytics, UCL (2016).
Post-Graduate Certificate in Counselling, Birkbeck University of London (2013).
I have worked as a psychotherapist for private companies and charities, and currently work as a therapist for an outpatient service in the NHS, alongside my private practice.
My first session
All psychodynamic therapists undergo their own therapy, so I know what it is like to be on the other side of the room.
Our first session will be exploratory, where we get to understand the issues that have brought you here, and you can get a feeling for how the therapy will work and ask any questions you might have. All sessions are 50 minutes and start and end promptly.
No matter what you are struggling with, you are welcome.
