About me and my therapy practice
It can feel very difficult, anxiety provoking and/or whelming to feel you are being heard and/or understood. Lack of confidence and low self-esteem often following into how you may feel now.
I provide a diverse and inclusive safe space that is confidential and non-judgemental where I can support you to explore your concerns. I am passionate about listening to, believing and understanding your story. I will work alongside you, supporting you to find your answers to what you bring by tailoring your therapy that is supportive of your needs.
I left school with no qualifications, and served in the British Army (WRAC), for many years. I have worked in different sectors since leaving the forces to where I am now as a qualified counsellor.
It was during my training that I was diagnosed as dyslexic, and this gave me much understanding of the struggles I had in my earlier life around education and not feeling good enough. As a result of this I had a lack of confidence I had with daily life.
It was the support I received in my own personal therapy that allowed my self-belief and confidence to grow and be who I am today – me.
Practice description
The focus of my work is to firstly ensure the space we are in is safe and confidential. I am here to listen to you and to understand what you are telling me and support you find your understanding of what you bring to your sessions.
If the problem is important to you (regardless of what you think how others may view it), then it's important to me. A few examples of issues clients bring to their sessions are:
- Not feeling heard, listened to or believed
- Relationships with others.
- Feeling stuck in a situation such as a job, friendship or relationship you are unable to move on from.
- Fear of failure in trying something new.
Finding your understanding will allow your confidence to grow and enable you to manage decision making more effectively. This may feel daunting and scary, but I work at your pace and what you bring to your session.
Many of my clients who have attended counselling have started off feeling confused about why they feel the way they do, unable to understand how to make changes that will allow them to manage daily life more positively. At the end of their therapy, they have found their understanding to their issue/s, allowing them to let go of many feelings attached to these. Clients’ leave having gained what they need to support them manage: more confidence, clearer ways of thinking, understanding that it is okay to slow down and pause to think before acting/reacting, understanding that they are not alone and that asking for help/support is positive in times of need.
My first session
The 1st session will allow me to find out more about what has brought you to counselling, goals you would like to achieve (you may not know this at this point and that is okay). We can agree a way of working that will support you to achieve your goals.
Please be assured that I work at your pace and ensure at all times you feel safe continue. We can stop and come back to things as you feel ready.
