Hi, I'm Helein (Helen), a relational psychotherapist based in London and online.

There are many reasons why you may like to see a therapist.  Life challenges can be difficult to navigate and, at times, feel overwhelming; talking to friends and family may not be enough or appropriate. 

Maybe you find yourself falling into unhelpful patterns – relationship difficulties, misusing alcohol or substances, working too much – but seem unable to stop yourself.

Are you experiencing feelings of overwhelm and are anxious, struggling to stay in the here-and-now?

Are you experiencing depression/low mood thinking about things which happened in the past, but which are still impacting you in the here-and-now. Do you say to yourself “That happened years ago! I thought I was over it. Why am I still feeling or acting in this way?”

Do you replay awkward moments from your day whilst falling asleep, wishing things were different?

Do you ask yourself “If only I was...? I would be okay”?

Are you grieving the loss of a parent, loved one or relationship and finding it difficult to process your feelings? 

Perhaps you just feel alone and disconnected and need to be seen and heard by another.

I offer you a space to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day to day life. Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives – and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Therapy isn’t about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own changes.

My first session

When choosing a psychotherapist, it is really important you find someone you feel comfortable with, and someone who you will feel safe to share your issues of concern with. I therefore offer a free 20-minute introductory consultation where we will discuss what you would like to achieve from therapy . There will be time for you to ask me any questions you may have about psychotherapy and the psychotherapeutic process before you make an emotional and financial commitment.
