Abuse can be sexual, emotional, physical or relational and neglect is also a form of abuse. My experience of supporting survivors of child sexual abuse includes two years on the NAPAC helpline and over three years at a counselling agency which supports men and women who want to understand and process the effects of abuse.   Abuse is traumatising at any age and I also work with people who have experienced abusive relationships (which includes bullying) and sexual violence as an adult.  

I spent several years as a bereavement counsellor with a national charity supporting people who had experienced many types of bereavement.  An unresolved bereavement can cause many issues, particularly when a child suffers the death of a parent, but the death of anybody close can be devastating at any age, especially the death of a child (or unborn child), sudden death and bereavement by suicide which can be life-changing.
