About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Carmen, a qualified, registered, passionate Psychotherapist integrating Humanistic approaches. I offer face to face counselling to adult individuals in Surbiton South-West London, or online via Zoom.
I appreciate that finding a therapist can be overwhelming and nerve wracking. A trusting relationship is key to positive therapeutic outcomes and is what I provide to my clients with a friendly, warm, respectful and compassionate approach.
People come to counselling for many reasons. Perhaps you notice unexplainable emotions, unhelpful relationship patterns, or addictive behaviours which you would like to change. Maybe something has happened to you that you would like to make sense of or come to terms with. Or it may be that you struggle with low self-esteem or find it hard to say no.
Psychotherapy is about understanding yourself and how you construct the world which surrounds you. This can deepen self awareness and empower you to live a life that is meaningful for you on your terms.
My key experience is embedded in and not limited to, supporting those who have experienced- Trauma, abuse, addiction, relationship problems, anxiety, low self-esteem, low mood, and difficult childhood experiences.
Practice description
I work relationally, meaning I use the therapeutic relationship as a strong foundation for our work and an indication of how you relate to yourself, others, and in turn how they respond to you.
I draw from the valuable theoretical contributions of Gestalt, Person centred, and Existentialism.
The therapeutic relationship is unique, and offers a confidential, non-judgmental space that is for you to explore and express your genuine thoughts and feelings.
I believe that my role as a counsellor is to listen and hold a mental account of the whole of the content you bring. I will support you to stand back from your story, and to reflect on your life and experiences openly and honestly, which can be challenging but incredibly rewarding helping foster lasting positive change.
