I'm a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018). I also have Enhanced DBS Clearance to practice. I'm always updating my skills/competencies with continued professional development (CPD) in line with BACP Guidelines

Age-wise, I work with anyone from 18 to 81+

So please do feel free to contact me to discuss what's happening for you so I can decide whether I'm the right fit for your needs. Leave a message at any time. All communication is confidential. I aim to return all email or whatsapp enquiries within 24 hours.

I work solely online at the moment. I offer to my clients a free half hour consultation to determine whether I'm the right fit for you. If you are then we can schedule an appointment.

About me and my therapy practice

Are you stressed? Worried about work? Frustrated with financial stress? Feel like you are not understood by your loved ones or colleagues? Worried about the world as it is today with Covid 19 global instability and climate change? Stuck in a state of what seems like perpetual anxiety about what the future holds for you?  Your family?

It really does feel like we're in the midst of perilous times. Personal challenges in the context of epoch-changing times for our planet can add to a feeling of oppresive gloom and doom. Life is a complicated enough journey as it is.  We encounter all kinds of obstacles along the way.

Sometimes we feel we can't cope and just need to talk to someone who will listen without judging us. Sometimes there might be deeper issues that you've been carrying around for a long time and now feel the need to unpack and heal. I can support you, walk alongside you through your journey as you work through your problems and challenges to find your own solutions.

Being listened to and understood without being judged is half the journey.

I have travelled widely for at least two decades and come from a background rich with international experiences at an official level in East and West Africa and the Caribbean. Before this I studied at Cambridge and also have a PhD in Health policy. I also understand what its like to fail. And what its like to feel unfulfilled. All of these diverse experiences have impacted considerably on what I bring to my counselling practice.

Practice description

My past clients have commented on how refreshingly relaxed my approach to counselling is and how at ease and comfortable they felt right from the start.

My specialties are anxiety, depression, fear and stress stemming from high level high-stress jobs, fear of the future, financial worries, existential uncertainty, climate change, relationships, bereavement and loss, aging, caring for children/relations with special needs and other conditions. If you are on the autism spectrum I can also support you. I am the mum of a teenage son on the autism spectrum so understand well the challenges.

My work is client-led as only you know how you feel! Certain counselling styles suit some people more than others. I use an integrative approach which blends the person-centred theory with Psychoanalysis, Gestalt and Existentialism. I draw from these and other models to provide what hopefully would feel like the right support for you. This theory bit is always fully enveloped and underpinned by a foundation which has at its core, kindness, compassion, empathy, trust, respect, safety and empowerment. You will always feel that you have a safe and confidential place to talk.
