About me and my therapy practice

I help people overcome relationship breakdowns and historical abuses. To cope and rebuild, so life is authentic, purposeful and enjoyable.

You may have relationship difficulties and behave in ways you want to change. Being triggered by circumstances, suffering from anxiety, depression, loss, or past hurts This affects self-esteem and life. Or maybe  coping is hard.

I can assist you to change in ways you want. So you can live your life.

Struggling and internal conflict take energy. But change isn’t easy. It may feel difficult to talk about past sexual, or physical abuse, or things you’d rather forget. But It is courageous to seek help if you feel stuck, and I won’t rush you. We can go at your pace.

I've spent many years learning how to help people improve their lives. Studying theories and methods to help people with their mental health, and working with people who have a wide spectrum of personal issues. I will work to help you make the changes you want. Looking at root causes not just symptoms of the problem, if that’s what you want. So you can be confident, love yourself, feel happy and connected, with hope for the future while enjoying the present.

My qualifications and trainings include:-

Humanistic/Person Centred (talking) Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution Focused Family and Individual Therapy, Behavioural Systems Approaches to Family Therapy, Mindfulness, Meditation, TA, Psychodynamic Approaches, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). Hypnotherapy, Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), Single Session Therapy, Using Art in therapy, Approaches for healing trauma, Coaching and Training.

I am constantly keeping up to date with new approaches and refreshing my Professional Training, and am an active Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy MBACP

Practice description

My therapeutic approach is integrative. I work according to your want and need, not one single therapeutic approach.

I began working in Mental Health in my twenties and providing therapy over 30 years ago. People have all types of problems and live through different types of trauma and difficult situations. It’s okay to talk confidentially. I won’t judge.

But will work to help, provide you with information and strategies, respect, and listen

When I was 17 years I started working in London. I had some difficult and traumatic experiences during these early years. By my mid twenties I’d made major changes and life was starting to be good. I realised how lucky I’d been and wanted to give back, so I began working in Mental Health.

I’ve been working and studying ever since. I worked my way through several degree courses, and was qualified as a Mental Health Professional and Counsellor/Therapist in my thirties.

Therapeutic work was my passion. But I diversified into other aspects of Social Work, Teaching, Training, Safeguarding, Addiction, Fostering, Learning Disability and Dementia specialisms during my working life. In later years I decided to start my Private Practice as a Counsellor/ Therapist and wanted to register with the BACP. The requirements for registration had changed so I gained level 4 Counselling Diploma and took the BACP examination.

Personal development is part of my life and I am still growing as a work in progress. I continue studying and developing professionally. My focus being helping people make the changes they want in life and relationships.

It is my privilege to work with people experiencing many different problems, who are from different cultures and backgrounds. It is an honour to be part of the process.

My first session

Your first session involves assessment as well as being therapeutic. It is a chance for you to tell your story if you want. During this session we will formulate ideas about what you want from therapy and agree how to start this process.

I may ask you to complete an initial assessment form beforehand, if you are happy to do so,

Assessment and review of treatment methods are ongoing throughout therapy.
