About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, people call me Laura. I guess you are looking to make things better. Continually ‘scrolling’ for options, can lead to that ‘stuck’ feeling.

I am an accredited member of the BACP and an experienced Person-Centred Humanistic counsellor, offering trauma focused therapy sessions for many things.

Often people avoid therapy, fearing judgment or the prospect of being overwhelmed, or perhaps the fear of not knowing where to start.

My client’s say they “feel lighter” from our first session, and further sessions are very helpful and easy to engage with.

In sessions we would form a therapy plan just for you. You will be surprised, how empowered you can be, without getting swamped by your struggles.

The keys to good outcomes are, to be ready to try, have the right space and therapist for you. I offer a free no obligation, welcoming 15-minute Tel call, to help you to decide your next steps.

I counsel people 18 and over, experiencing many things - bereavement/grief/loss/infertility, relationship difficulties, complex trauma, crime related violence/rape, domestic/other abuse, (PTSD & resulting symptoms) depression, anxiety/stress, guilt/shame and those managing life limiting/changing conditions (patients, family members & carers). Redundancy, grief/loss & life limiting conditions, personal growth & confidence building. I am registered with The Foundation for Pregnancy & Infant Loss.

I have solid counselling experience with various health conditions and neurodiversity. I have counselled within The Heart of Kent Hospice for three years and continue to provide sessions for a valued Kent based charity, offering complex trauma counselling.

I offer counselling for general mind maintenance to support your career, to build internal resources for the life you hope to have.

Practice description

Taking steps to start counselling sessions can be hard at times. Many of my clients consistently say that sessions are "better than they expected counselling to be."  It is a surprise to them know that in sessions, we don't have to stay stuck focused in the past to form a new future.

Isn't it often the case that we spend more time putting of what might help us? Later wishing we had done it sooner!

Feeling comfortable with your counsellor is key. I will take time to listen empathically and carefully to you, to gain a real sense of your experiences, concerns and goals. This helps me to tailor the sessions to your needs and pace.

In sessions, I expand on the pure Person-Centred approach, to touch on elements such as Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Existentialism and Creative therapy, because sometimes it is difficult to put words to difficult thoughts and feelings.

Therapy sessions can last up to 60 minutes. I offer in person therapy, to people 18 years old and over (*or if appropriate via telephone), in a calm spacious room, with easy motorway access and transport links to surrounding areas.

We would have regular reviews, to promote good outcomes, shared awareness and to strengthen our sessions.

There is a chance to increase self-worth and to gain useful tools, to sustain you, as you work through to your goals, and beyond our time together.

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Person Centred Humanistic).

An Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP -Accredited)

Registered with The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Hold Enhanced (DBS) Disclosure & Barring Service certified.

ASIST Trained - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trained.

I am a registered counsellor with The Foundation for Infant Loss.
