About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced clinical supervisor and hold a Level 6 Diploma in supervision.   My initial role as a supervisor was supervising counsellors who were working in GP surgeries in a deprived area of Kent, meaning that the client issues were often broad and complex.  Since 2018 I have offered supervision to both qualified and trainee counsellors within my private practice.

Practice description

As a supervisor I offer a safe, non-judgemental and robust space for supervisees to talk through and explore their cases.  It is important for me as a counsellor to have a supervisor who I can trust to guide and support me, and also hold safe boundaries and it is this that I also offer.

My aim is to empower you to be your own person within the counselling and supervision relationship, and use the space I provide to develop personally and professionally.  I work in a collaborative way therefore allowing you to explore all aspects of your work, both positive and negative, in a non-judgemental way.

I am a Senior accredited and registered member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My first session

Finding the right supervisor for you is important, therefore our initial session together is an opportunity for us to meet and talk about what you are looking for from supervision and what I am able to offer and together we look at how working together would be.

About me and my therapy practice

My original training in Humanistic theory is at the core of my work, however my approach is of an Integrative nature. I believe that what is most important is the relationship between client and therapist, and it is fundamental to establish a good working alliance. I further believe that clients know where their problems lie; albeit this may not be apparent to them at the start of therapy. I see my role as facilitating their journey by helping them achieve their goals using my knowledge of theory and experience.

I work in a pragmatic manner looking at facts, cause and effect. I find this to be a very effective way of practising, particularly as many clients want to understand why they are the way they are, or behave the way they do. This pragmatism is tempered with kindness and empathy; I never forget that the story being told to me is very personal to my client.
