About me and my therapy practice
I work with individuals and couples from all sorts of backgrounds who may be facing many different kinds of challenges including; depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, or it might be that they simply want to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. I’m also trained to work with people who are experiencing coercive control or domestic abuse in their intimate relationships.
It takes a lot of courage to first admit to yourself that you need help and then to reach out and ask for it. Whatever you're going through, you don't need to be alone.
Therapy is a journey we go on together. I’ll be right beside you holding a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. We can work together to find ways to help you process whatever difficulties you’re facing, and develop strategies that can move you towards a calmer, more stable and peaceful way of being.
Practice description
I'm an integrated psychotherapist and counsellor. Being an integrated therapist means that I'm trained to work in several different therapeutic approaches. Depending on the type of problem or issue you’d like help with, I can combine these approaches in different ways to offer you the best care.
I use the person-centred approach as the foundation for my practice. On top of that, I may layer different modalities and to develop a way of working that's unique to your individual needs and goals for therapy. There is no 'one size fits all'.
I'm happy to work with your preferences and will offer suggestions if I feel there's a particular approach we could try that may be beneficial.
I work with individuals and couples online and in person. I also have limited space to offer up to eight low-cost sessions online for clients who are students or on low incomes. Please ask me for more details.
My first session
Before our first session I suggest we have a ten-minute call. This is an opportunity for us to say hello, and for you to ask me any questions.
During our first session I'll ask you about your past experiences of therapy (if you have any). It's useful for me to know what you felt worked well in your previous therapy and also what you feel wasn't so helpful. I'll also ask you about your goals for therapy and if there's anything specific you'd like to focus on. This will give me a better idea of how you might prefer to work with me in our sessions together.
