About me and my therapy practice
I provide individual therapy for people who want to explore relationship issues.
Relationships with humans are not always easy and the relationship we have with ourselves can be difficult too.
There is a constant tension between the life we want for ourselves and the life we live for others and it can be difficult and stressful to find the balance between the two.
There are often expectations from others that don't match the values we hold and this can cause tensions within ourselves and others.
Perhaps the way you view yourself and the world is holding you back and you'd like to explore new perspectives.
And of course, relationships can end, sometimes through our own choice but often through the choice of others or through circumstances such as death, which can bring up very mixed and overwhelming emotions.
Having a weekly therapy space to talk and make sense of your relationships and experiences can really help you to find new ways of living and being in the world, to make sense of your emotions and make changes in your life.
I am fully qualified and have been working as an integrative therapist since 2015.
Prior to completing my training as a therapist, I worked in the charity sector for twelve years as a support worker, working with homeless people, people with mental health issues, drug, alcohol and gambling addictions and in the women's sector, with women affected by domestic abuse.
Practice description
I will work with whatever issues you choose to bring to our sessions but I have a particular interest in working with family issues, relationship issues, bereavement and how you make meaning in your life and whether you’re living your life in a way that feels authentic.
I welcome people and relationships from the LGBTQIA+ community.
I only work with individuals and not couples.
My first session
After you have contacted me, we will arrange a free 10-15 minute phone call so I can get at a sense of what you're looking for from sessions and whether my way of working is what you're looking for, then we can arrange a first session. I will then email you to confirm our initial session appointment along with further information about my practice, which will cover confidentiality, cancellations and other relevant information.
Our first session will give us both an opportunity to meet and for you to tell me more about yourself, what issues have brought you to therapy and what you're looking to gain from sessions.
I will ask you questions about your upbringing, your family and your relationships, which will help me to understand you and your experiences and help me to put your difficulties into context. You can also ask me any questions about how I work and I will tell you how think I can help you.
Towards the end of the session, we will decide if we want to continue working together or if you'd prefer to have some time to think about it, you're welcome to do so and contact me later with your decision.
