About me and my therapy practice
I combine different tools and strategies within my work, it’s important to keep a balance between our individuality and the similarities we share, emotionally, psychologically and experientially. The 3 main modalities I work from are Person-Centred Counselling, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt therapy. Additionally, I use somatic work and mindfulness, some CBT techniques and philosophies, reflective writing as well as a transpersonal and existential lens.
My practice and overall research in the area show that the one most essential and significant factor for successful therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. The building of rapport and deepening that into trust is the foundation of therapeutic change. I place working relationally before any specific modality or technique.
I currently provide sessions online and will be providing walking therapy from mid July in accordance with government guidelines.
My first session
Before starting work together, I find it important to have an open and non-committal phone chat about what you are looking for and what you are expecting from me and therapy.
From there we agree on a time to meet that would be convenient every week. At the moment I am only offering online sessions, so the place of our first session will be Zoom.
