About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative therapist working with children and young people ages 4-25 years old.  I aim to provide a safe space, allowing the child/young person to explore and understand difficult feelings and emotions, to feel truly accepted and heard.

I use play and creative materials to encourage the child/young person to explore their world alongside an attuned adult who is able to really listen to what they are saying, both verbally and non verbally.

Working as an integrative therapist, I am attuned to the individual young persons needs, drawing on a variety of techniques from different approaches.  I use elements from person centred therapy, strongly believing in the importance of therapeutic relationship. I am also psychodynamic in my approach, thinking about what is being communicated literally and unconsciously.

I also recognise that the child/young person does not exist in a bubble and understand the importance of thinking systemically, considering them in the context of their family.

Practice description

I am a fully qualified integrative therapist who specialises in working with children and young people.  Having trained at both Place2Be and The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE), I have worked in schools, both primary and secondary, for several years.  I also work in private practice.

Prior to this, I worked as a volunteer counsellor at Childline for three years.

I am passionate about children's mental health and believe that repeated relational time with a trusted and emotionally available adult can be a powerful and restorative experience.

My first session

Initially I offer a free telephone conversation, after which I invite parents for a consultation. This usually takes up to an hour and is to discuss any issues/concerns and to explore the child/young persons background. The fee for this is £30.

If it is decided to go ahead with therapy, the sessions will be 50 minutes and will be reviewed every few weeks to decide if all parties feel that the therapy is helpful and if you would like to continue.
