About me and my therapy practice
I am qualified in a range of therapeutic approaches, and I work in a way that is guided by my clients’ experiences and needs. I am experienced at working with a range of emotional issues, as well as mental health problems.
I have been a counsellor for two branches of MIND, a hospital bereavement service and a women’s healthcare charity (as part of NHS IAPT). Over the years, I have supported individuals with anxiety, depression, sex and relationship problems, and through times of loss and conflict. I am particularly interested in the impact of parenthood and in identity issues. I offer both short and long-term counselling.
I am passionate about making mental health stigma a thing of the past and I'm trained as a Mental Health First Aider. Before becoming a therapist, I was a befriender for Samaritans.
I believe that most psychological struggles stem from difficulties in current or past relationships: those with others or with ourselves. My clinical thinking is influenced by psychodynamic ideas and attachment theory, whilst my way of being with clients is person-centred. My hope for clients is to feel more connected to others in the outside world, as well as with themselves on the inside.
***My usual availability for weekly sessions is during the day, Tuesdays and Wednesdays***
