About me and my therapy practice
I work with individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety and depression. Maybe you need to talk your experiences through with a counsellor or better understand what is happening for you.
My aim is to understand the difficulties you face, I do this by providing a safe, warm and empathic space, currently online, I provide counselling to help with issues that include depression, anxiety, trauma or other stress related experiences; each explored in a safe, non-judgmental environment. I provide a calm and inviting space, which I believe is vital to developing a therapeutic relationship where you feel you can place your trust in me, allowing you to be open about what is happening for you.
I have worked with both adults and young people, working alongside them to help them understand and overcome and a range of personal difficulties.
My theoretical approach is primarily Existential. I am trained to use a range of other therapeutic approaches which does include CBT to help support your own understanding of what is happening to you and to develop the necessary skills you may need to support yourself outside of therapy.
Having extensive skills and experience supporting and working with individuals via a range of community projects including organisations such as Women’s Aid, my counselling experience has included work with MIND and University Student Services.
I am a practicing NHS counsellor for GP practices.
I am currently offering sessions via Zoom.
I practice using a space, which I feel is warm, comfortable and relaxing. It is a private space where sessions are not disturbed.
When face-to-face sessions can resume, I do work in an environment that includes pets having been nearby. Therefore, if you have any pet related allergies you need to be aware of this.
My first session
In our first session, we will look at the boundaries of counselling so that you can feel safe in what you tell me and what I do with your information.
I will complete an assessment of your experiences with you, to understand what you are having difficulty with and how I can best help you.
If it would be helpful we can set a goal or number of goals for your sessions, to ensure your therapy meets your needs.
It is an opportunity to make sure you are comfortable working with me and to ask any questions you may have.
