About me and my therapy practice

Hello and thank you for taking the time to view my page, I appreciate it is a big decision to think about counselling and find the right counsellor to meet your needs.

As an experienced counsellor, I have worked in the community with adults and young people with mental distress for over 20 years, I am passionate about working with you to help alleviate your distress or bring about clarity and understanding to your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Clients describe me as a warm, empathic, safe and a caring, providing a space where they feel able to share and talk through their difficult experiences.

Working with a whole range of issues and experiences, the areas you may wish to focus on tend to be around anxiety, difficult childhood experiences, abuse or bullying in adulthood, ADHD diagnosis and understanding the meaning and impact of this.  I work with student counsellors, and students under pressures from their courses and being away from home.

I work with a lot of male clients, who find the space to explore feelings and emotions a safe environment, where they might not experience this elsewhere.  Finding their relationship with themselves, family and intimate relationships improve.

Practice description

How I Work

Working in an integrative way, drawing on a range of theories to best suit your needs , at your pace, understanding counselling can be difficult and anxiety provoking. My aim is to help you bring clarity your thoughts, feelings and emotions, to bring about a sense of peace and calm in your wellbeing and a process of healing.

I draw on a vast range of experience from the NHS, MIND, university students, student counsellors and EAP providers. I have worked in the charity sector for over 20 years.

If you would like to book your counselling with me then I offer a free brief introductory 15 minute call via Zoom/TEAMS or telephone, to discuss what your counselling may look like for you.

I am a BACP registered counsellor.

I am trained Trauma Informed Practitioner.

My first session

In our first session, it is an opportunity for you to tell me your experience and how they are impacting on you. You may wish to set some goals for our work together, so that you feel like it is working for you, we can review these goals regularly throughout your sessions.

It is important to discuss your expectation of therapy and me as your counsellor and for us to consider how sessions can be emotional and how you manage that between your counselling sessions.
