About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor with a strong belief that it is the power of connection and relationship that can be the greatest source of support when things feel difficult. This belief informs my practice in a way that allows for a focus on the therapeutic relationship, and placing your needs at the heart of the work together. Alongside this I am able to support with coping strategies, managing and understanding emotional and behavioural responses as well as helping to make sense of what may be going on underneath the surface.
With an increased focus on mental health in society, I aim to offer a space that feels safe, confidential, accepting and free of judgement, in the hope that therapy will feel as accessible and inclusive as possible.
I have a huge passion for sport and for supporting people with processing the emotional impact that can come from injury, loss of form, loss of identity, pressure to perform and having to give up the sport someone loves altogether. It can often be this element of support that is missing and yet it can be the base from which recovery can build.
My working life previous to counselling was in the corporate environment, which has given me a real understanding of the pressure that comes with striving to succeed and the emotional distress it can cause on someones personal and professional life.
I currently work in private practice in Thame, within a comfortable air-conditioned room which is big enough to work while adhering to the COVID regulations and social distancing. I can offer both face to face and online sessions through Zoom.
Alongside this I work with a charity as a counsellor for young people aged 13-25 as well as working with sportsmen and women through the charity Sporting Chance.
My first session
I offer an initial free 20 minute phone conversation to find out a bit about what has brought you to therapy and to negotiate a time that would work for our sessions.
From there I offer 50 minute sessions which would ideally be weekly as this consistency and frequency supports the building of the relationship, however this too could be negotiated based on your needs and availability.
