We may all experience psychological pain or turmoil at times - sometimes this may be transient, but sometimes these feelings may persist, and feel insurmountable. This is where counselling and psychotherapy can help.

You may feel like the same problems and relationship patterns keep repeating themselves, despite your best efforts to move on with your life.

You may not be quite able to define exactly what you are feeling, or your emotions might seem overwhelming, as if you cannot understand or control them.

I am a Registered experienced counsellor, psychotherapist MBACP and my role is to listen actively to your difficulties and help you clarify your needs, thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive environment. We may look at unresolved past issues, your current life situation, the future or explore together the options you have in making decisions and managing your life. The aim of our work together is to help you gain a greater awareness, feel more in control of your life and open yourself to all possibilities and to help you create also, understand healthier relationships with yourself and others.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist therapists (BACP-Registration number 155943)

My first session

In your first session, I will spend some time getting to know you and the issues that brought you into treatment. I may use a formal, structured interview, or it may just feel like a more free-flowing conversation. The therapist will ask questions about your presenting concerns, as well as your history and background. Most likely, you’ll find yourself talking about your current symptoms or struggles, as well saying a bit about your relationships, your interests, your strengths, and your goals.

Most importantly, in that first session, you may begin making a connection with your therapist. You should feel safe, accepted, respected, and relatively comfortable. Not all therapists are right for every person, so use your first session to assess whether or not the therapist you chose feels like a good match for your personality.
