About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Alison and I am an integrative counsellor with availability for new clients. Taking the first step towards counselling can feel a little daunting and full of unknowns. So, to feel safe is essential. I provide a warm, non-judgmental space, allowing you to talk openly and express your feelings, knowing that you will be heard. By supporting you in exploring the areas you find most difficult, I aim to help you gain a greater understanding of your situation, working with you to access the appropriate tools for managing emotions and facilitating change.
I work with adults aged 18 and over. My clinical experience includes working with depression, anxiety and low self-esteem, relationship/family relationship issues, domestic violence and abuse.
Alongside my private practice, I work online with an agency which supports survivors of domestic violence and abuse. I am also a counsellor for a charity in Aylesbury which works alongside individuals facing a number of life issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction and relationship breakdown.
Until recently, I worked in education (for over twenty years) and have an understanding of the pressures faced by parents on a daily basis. As a former teacher, I have a deep awareness of the issues and demands facing those working in this field.
Practice descriptionUsing a client-centred approach, I draw on a range of theoretical ideas enabling individuals to explore their issues and develop greater self-awareness. These include Person-Centred therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Psychodynamic Theory. I offer one to one counselling, either short or long-term, depending on the needs of the client.
