Availability
I am currently taking on new clients for long and short term therapy. My working hours are flexible and I have some availability for weekdays (daytime and evening) and weekends (Saturday). At the moment I am only offering counselling sessions over the telephone / video.
About me and my therapy practice
I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, primarily focusing on person centred therapy but also including some training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). In addition to this, I have completed further training in domestic violence counselling.
I have experience working with a specialist counselling service for women and men who have experienced domestic abuse. I have worked with people who have experienced homelessness, where family breakdown and addiction is often a feature. I have also worked with an NHS health centre providing counselling to patients experiencing general anxiety or depression.
In addition to this, I have extensive experience working in education as a lecturer. I have also worked in the fitness industry as an instructor and educator, and ran my own business for over 25 years.
Practice description
Talking can be therapeutic but it's also important to be heard. I can offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment in which to explore whatever is on your mind and however you are feeling.
I am primarily a person centred counsellor but can integrate other counselling approaches into my work according to your needs. For example, the belief that you are the expert regarding your own issues is at the centre of the person-centred approach and is something that I respect and uphold. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is more structured and can be helpful in identifying and addressing unhelpful or difficult thoughts and behaviours that impact on feelings. I believe that these two approaches can work well together to manage immediate problems and explore underlying issues.
My first session
It's important to find the right counsellor which is why I offer a free 15 minute initial consultation over the telephone. This is an opportunity to discuss your needs and what I may be able to help you with, but also an opportunity to just talk and for you to think about whether you would be comfortable working with my.
Following this, if you would like to book a counselling session, I will send you full details of my service, terms & conditions and fees.
