About me and my therapy practice
You may be thinking about counselling because you are feeling stuck, sad, scared, stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or struggling to find purpose or meaning. You may find yourself challenged by a change or event in your life. Or perhaps you just want to get to know and understand yourself better.
Expressing and exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in counselling helps you to understand why you may be encountering - and repeating - unhelpful patterns in your life. It enables you to gain the insight, clarity and perspective you need to untangle the knots that bind you and move forward in the direction that feels right for you.
My approach is compassionate and collaborative. I offer a confidential and non-judgemental space in which you and I work together to explore who you are and what is going on for you.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I am trained and experienced in using different therapeutic models. I draw on these in the way that feels most helpful and relevant to you and your situation.
I offer a no-obligation introductory consultation. This session is to enable you to talk about what is bringing you to counselling, and to experience working with me before you decide whether you wish to go ahead.
I am trained to work with individual clients and with couples.
I usually see clients at the Wellness Centre, a stone’s throw from the Burns Statue in central Dumfries. However owing to the Covid situation I am currently conducting all sessions online or by telephone. Sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place weekly.
