About me and my therapy practice
Life can sometimes leave us feeling stuck, or on our own. Fear, anxiety and self-doubt can keep us there. You don't have to be alone in this; I'm here to help you talk things through. I know how much courage it takes to come to counselling, having been in therapy myself. At the root of the pain is a part of ourselves that has been hurt, usually in early life (the "inner child") which can remain hurt and frightened long into adult life, keeping us stuck in patterns of painful situations and anxieties.
Therapy can put us in touch with our inner child and heal the original wounds that continue to cause the pain. The thought of doing this can be very frightening; however it's a bit like peeling an onion; we look at things a little layer at a time, to the extent that you want to. So you are always in control, and every insight helps to reduce the pain.
People wonder what counselling and psychotherapy are, and what the difference is. Well it's simple really; counselling is about talking something through to gain clarity about thoughts and feelings, while psychotherapy focuses more deeply on the limiting beliefs that are "programming" us outside our awareness and holding us back. The mind has a great wisdom of its own, and knows if and when to show us what is in the unconscious. Gaining insight can be a great release, and when we change our thoughts we can change our whole life.

How I Work:
I use a range of approaches, including CBT, person-centred and psychodynamic. I bring my own personal qualities that cannot be learned - intuition, compassion, insight and non-judgemental listening.
