About me and my therapy practice

With over 20 years of experience as a BACP accredited counsellor I have a wide range of skills to offer.  I worked for many years as a GP attached counsellor working primarily with brief therapies and also using Cognitive Analytic Therapy, which is brief psychotherapeutic approach. This work allowed me to develop skills and experience in working with a huge variety of mental health and life issues on both a brief and longer term basis.  Alongside this I have also qualified as a mindfulness teacher and trained in mindful self-compassion and love to integrate these approaches into my counselling work.  In addition I  have extensive experience in offering training therapies to counselling students and welcome this side of my work too.

About me and my therapy practice

I have a long history of working as a GP attached counsellor and therefore plenty of experience in working flexibly and with a wide range of presenting problems. I offer a range of therapies including Cognitive Analytic Therapy. I specialise in brief to medium term therapy. I am also a mindfulness teacher and can offer mindfulness-based approaches for stress, depression,  anxiety, chronic pain and other health issues, as well as mindful self-compassion work.  I have specific experience also in end of life work and bereavement issues. I am based in Brighton but also have a counselling practice in Sydenham, London.

Practice description

For the foreseeable future I am working remotely offering therapy via Skype, Zoom and telephone based sessions.  I can offer both brief and long term therapy, as required.

My first session

Generally I like to speak to people on the telephone prior to a first booked appointment. This is an opportunity for you to check out what I can offer and ask basic questions about practical issues such as timing and the cost of sessions as well as allowing me to check that I feel able to work with the basic issues that you are bringing to the therapy sessions. If we feel that we might want work together we can then arrange a paid assessment appointment.
