About me and my therapy practice

When life is difficult, whether it's due to loss, anxiety, depression, a relationship breakdown, trauma or low self-esteem, or maybe you're not really sure why you feel the way you do, talking things through in a safe, supportive environment can be a catalyst for change. Whether it is something specific you want to change or you simply don't want feel this way anymore.

I see many clients with anxiety, whether it be social anxiety, separation anxiety, health anxiety, panic attacks or general anxiety.  I also work with bereaved clients and have completed some additional training around grief and loss.

Talking about how things are really affecting you can make a big difference, whether you understand them or not, whether they seem too big or too small. So often it's the small changes that we make that have a positive impact on how we feel and how we see ourselves. My role is to be with you on this journey through change, so that together we can explore your surroundings in safety and look for different perspectives to move you forward on the right path for you.

Before becoming a counsellor I worked in a corporate environment and understand the associated pressures and conflicts. I have worked with clients to support them through career and promotional uncertainties and interviews.

I a BACP accredited counsellor working from consulting rooms in central Warrington with plenty of parking nearby. I also offer online sessions. I am available for daytime and evening appointments.

Practice description

I work in private practice with adults, young people and children on a one to one basis. The majority of my clients need between 6 and 8 sessions, although some may require support for much longer than this and a few will need less than 6 sessions.

Most clients are seen weekly although depending on need, some clients will be more suited to fortnightly or monthly appointments.

My first session

My preference is to have had a brief phone conversation with potential clients before arranging  an appointment. This is so that they can get a better feel for how I work, before deciding to go ahead. It can also help to reduce anxiety around the first session.

We start the first session with a quick overview of confidentiality and how the sessions will run. We also discuss whether they have any goals for these sessions. This is followed by a short questionnaire that helps to give me a better understanding of the specific aspects of life that they are finding difficult.

This usually takes about 10 minutes and then we can begin to look at the reasons why they are there.

If they have an agenda they want to work through that is fine. If they have no idea where to start that is fine too!
