About me and my therapy practice

As a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) relationship counsellor, I am genuinely committed to supporting couples and individuals in healing and transforming the relationship with self and partner by communicating in a different way that restores emotional closeness, physical intimacy and personal wellbeing. Sometimes when it feels too late to heal the hurts or your relationship feels quite shaky, couple counselling can provide the much needed relationship support. You can recover or discover what is missing from your relationship and work towards creating an emotionally and physically fulfilling relationship for both of you. I am of mixed Danish Nigerian heritage and moved to London from Denmark in 1997 for a postgraduate degree and stayed on to live and work as a Web Editor. I decided to retrain as a relationship counsellor after having personally experienced the benefits of couple counselling. In my therapeutic practice, I use an integrative model, predominantly Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an experiential and systemic approach that focuses on healing and strengthening emotional bonds, as well as Rogerian Person-Centred, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Gerald Egan's 'The Skilled Helper' models. My goal is to create a warm non-judgemental oasis where you can safely share your thoughts and feelings and experience interacting with a deeper level of mutual understanding and responsiveness that dissolves relationship issues.

Practice description

Since the pandemic, I work mainly online although I do offer a one-off Intensive session for couples with a possible follow-up Intensive but it is important to organise having a regular therapist as a follow up to the Intensive if more than one follow-up session is needed.

An intensive is an opportunity for a couple to dedicate a block of time exclusively to working on their relationship to reach a deeper level of awareness of how and where they get stuck in communication and attain greater clarity and connection.

My goal is to help the couple leave with a deeper sense of mutual understanding of what blocks the security of their connection and an experience of what a more secure connection would look and feel like for both. It helps if a couple has a specific intention for what they each hope to get out of the Intensive in terms of the status of their relationship.

An Intensive lasts 4 hours from 12:30 to 4:30pm online or in my Winchmore Hill venue.

I also offer a transformational 2-day couples relationship enhancement workshop, Hold Me Tight (HMT) with my EFT Colleague, Isabel Bristowe in Haslemere. T
