About me and my therapy practice
My name is Ruth Kendrick, I am an experienced counsellor, working with children, young people and adults, face to face at my practice in Weybridge in Surrey.
As a specially trained Play Counsellor, I work with children using non-directive holistic play therapy, an active approach to counselling in which play, rather than talking, is the main means of expression. For children, play is the most natural form of communication. Through child-centred play therapy approaches, a range of issues can be explored, such as separation anxiety or social anxiety.
During my 13 years’ experience, in a variety of school settings, I have worked with trauma, attachment, domestic violence, anxiety, bereavement, bullying, low self-esteem and anger issues. My experience in building strong relationships, creating a safe space and my non-judgemental, confidential approach goes a long way to help children build self-esteem and resilience.
I also have 15 years’ experience working with adults. My approach is person-centred - together we discover your own resources to equip you with long term coping strategies.
