Counselling is helpful if you want to talk about an issue to someone who is completely removed from that situation. In counselling you will find a safe and non-judgemental space in which to discuss anything you want to, confidentially.

Very often, demands placed on us mean that we lose sight of our own needs. By taking time to talk about your life, counselling can help you to get back into contact with these lost areas.

Practice description

My approaches are person centred and solution focussed. Both are respectful of the client’s view of what is going on and believe that the client has the strengths and resources to solve their problems. Counselling happens at your own pace and I would regularly check in with you about how you feel it is going and what is most helpful.

I use solution focussed questions to help illuminate problem areas. I have experience in some additional areas not in the list below, which are narcissism, Munchausen’s syndrome and Munchausen’s by proxy. However complex your situation seems I would like to help you untangle knotty areas.

Counselling would mostly consist of talking as well as creative, therapeutic exercises, if you are willing to do them.

My first session

During your first session I would be interested in discussing with you exactly what you want from counselling and how we might begin to achieve your goals. If you chose to continue with counselling I would refer back to these goals often, to ensure that we progress in a way that is most helpful to you.
