About me and my therapy practice
I work as an integrative counsellor, meaning I use and combine elements from a wide range of contemporary and traditional counselling and therapy approaches; to include and work with a deeper understanding of the body-mind connection and self. I adapt and tailor the sessions to you, including your identity such as but not limited to: gender, spirituality, race, culture, health, class and sexuality.
My background includes 10+ years' experience of working within the field of and, with individuals experiencing severe mental health, trauma, abuse and sexual violence. My years within these roles have informed my approach as a counsellor now.
I offer a warm and open space in the therapy to being to be with and put words to what is bringing you in, in the safety of your own pace. There are times in life where we cannot continue as we are, when experiencing deep distress, challenges and difficulties. Exploring what may be impacting you, in a confidential session can provide a useful support. Where what you might need right now to cope and be supported, can be considered. It is important to recognise each person’s individuality and therefore, I consider carefully the resources and tools offered accordingly, within the sessions.
I understand beginning therapy can be daunting. Meeting for our first session, allows us to see how we would feel working together and give space to discuss your ideas and expectations for the therapy. I work online and offer telephone sessions.
Tuesday, I practice from Old Street, room is on the ground floor.
Wednesday, I practice from Oxford Circus, room is on the third floor access via stairs only.
My first session
We meet for 50 minutes where I will give you space to explore what has bought you to counselling now and what you are hoping for the therapy to support you with. The session will be open for you to share what feels comfortable and gives you a flavour of how I would work with you. It allows us to get an idea of each other and importantly, whether we click as the right fit to support you.
The first session is also great to answer any questions you may have and to get an idea of what therapy might be like with me & for you!
