With the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, I am offering online (zoom) and telephone sessions.
It is normal to have a range and spectrum of emotions and responses right now. Whether that is stress, anxiety, being triggered, old patterns emerging, shame, worry, being fed-up, irritable or a stuckness, to name a few! Everything is impacted at the moment with some more easier transitions and changes than others.
Therapy can provide you the support you need, with a tailored safe space for you.
About me and my therapy practice
There are times in life where we cannot continue as we are, when experiencing deep distress, challenges and difficulties. Exploring what may be impacting you, in a confidential session with an impartial individual, can provide a useful support. Where what you might need right now to cope and be supported, can be considered.
I offer a warm and open space in the therapy. Allowing us to begin teasing apart and grappling with what is happening and the impact, in the safety of your own pace. I believe it is important to recognise each person’s individuality and therefore, adapt the resources and tools offered accordingly, within the sessions.
Alongside your own goals and desires for the therapy, I believe it is important to include a focus to become as present as you can in your life. Shifting from disconnect, anxiety, overwhelm and depression perhaps, to connection(s), stability and joy.
My background includes 7+ years' experience of working within the field of and, with individuals experiencing severe mental health, trauma, abuse and sexual violence. My years within these roles have informed my approach as a counsellor now.
I work as an integrative counsellor, meaning I use and combine elements from a wide range of contemporary and traditional counselling and therapy approaches. I adapt and tailor the sessions to you, including your identity i.e. gender, spirituality, race, culture, health, class and sexuality.
I understand beginning therapy can be daunting. Meeting for our first session, allows us to see how we would feel working together and give space to discuss your ideas and expectations for the therapy. My first session
We meet for 50 minutes where I will give you space to explore what has bought you to counselling now and what you are hoping for the therapy to support you with. The session will be open for you to share what feels comfortable and gives you a flavour of how I would work with you. It allows us to get an idea of each other and importantly, whether we click as the right fit to support you.
The first session is also great to answer any questions you may have and to get an idea of what therapy might be like with me & for you!
