About me and my therapy practice
I’m a qualified counsellor, registered with BACP with over 30 years experience, which includes working with a leading UK emergency service and as a volunteer for a local community counselling service, successfully helping young people (13yrs - 18 yrs) and adults overcome emotional challenges and trauma that is affecting them enjoying life. Whether you are struggling with anxiety and depression impacting on relationships and daily life, want to change negative habits and behaviours or figure out life direction and build confidence please get in contact.
I’m also able to provide mentoring, through the development of coaching and development programmes, to enable individuals to achieve their potential.
I have significant experience working with teenagers, encouraging, often vulnerable or challenged children, to engage on a programme that provides support, stability, discipline, direction, encouragement and a sense of belonging with an exceptional success rate motivating them to good life choices about their future.
I was diagnosed with dyslexia late in life so feel I have a strong understanding of neurodiversity and how challenging many situations can be in life and the importance of embracing this difference and harnessing the benefits. This experience has enabled me to support many clients with a range of neurodiverse challenges to develop effective strategies to feel confident to discuss and develop strategies to achieve their potential.
My clients say that I am calm and approachable, providing the space and when appropriate humour, to help them achieve their counselling goals. That I am able to adapt my approach dependent on what you need; from listening through to helping you gently challenge yourself.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor which means I can draw on a a number of approaches ensuring I'm able to tailor the counselling to your needs. I am able to blend counselling with coaching when necessary to help build confidence, self esteem and figure out life direction. My practise is set within the centre of Canterbury, providing simple and discrete access to a calm, relaxing and confidential safe space. I am also happy to work via Zoom or a combination.
My first sessionThe most important aspect of counselling is being able to build a trusting relationship and so its vital you take your time to chose a counsellor who makes you feel relaxed and safe. As such I provide a free initial assessment so I can talk through what to expect from counselling, my approach and how I can adapt this to your needs so you get exactly what you want and need from counselling. You can ask as many questions as you like so you can make the decision that feels right for you. Should you decide to continue we will agree a way of working that ensures your needs are met
