About me and my therapy practice
Whatever brings you to counselling now, I hope to offer you the opportunity to own and explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental, safe and supportive setting. I have had counselling myself at difficult times in my life and so appreciate the value of counselling, and of finding the right counsellor.
How I work
My approach is integrative - this means I work within a variety of therapeutic approaches, allowing me to draw on elements that I feel may work best for you. Counselling is a collaborative process and my aim is to work with you so that you get the most out of your sessions.
I provide face-to-face counselling for adults aged 18 or over. As I believe that it is important for you to feel comfortable with me as your choice of counsellor, I offer an initial FREE 30-minute face-to-face meeting to see how it might feel for us to work together, for you to ask any questions you may have, and to explore your hopes for therapy.
Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes and we'd usually meet at the same time each week. I offer concessionary rates, including a £35 rate for student counsellors.
Counselling can be short term, where we define a set amount of sessions in order to explore a particular issue, or on an ongoing basis where we work to an end when it feels appropriate to do so.
* Due to the current coronavirus situation I, like many others, have moved to working from home. This means I’m offering online video counselling (via Zoom – a secure video conferencing system) or telephone counselling for the duration of lockdown, and afterwards if this continues to suit you and your situation. *
I also offer the option of sandplay as part of your therapy. By choosing symbols and figures and arranging them in the sand the healing process can happen in a gentle, non-verbal way. This can be a powerful way of accessing unconscious memories and feelings.
