About me and my therapy practice
I am a down-to-earth counsellor, psychotherapist and hypnotherapist. I work with these therapies in an integrative way. You will be warmly welcomed and sincerely heard. You may want a life where it is easier to deal with painful events from your past or where you can cope with the difficulties of day-to-day life more effectively. Or perhaps, feel less daunted by the future. I want to help you move forwards and feel happier.
I have had a number of difficult life experiences and genuinely believe in the benefits that finding the right counsellor can bring you. This therapeutic relationship is key to helping you activate the changes you want in your life. I want to help you feel empowered and equipped with strategies to use between sessions and beyond – into your new life.
I work with a range of common issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, loss, trauma, relationship issues, age related issues, developing self-esteem, breaking unhelpful habits and phobias amongst many others. You will be supported in a safe space to confidentially explore your issues.
The number of sessions needed varies for each person. Often clients can begin to activate changes in around 6 – 8 session. We can discuss this openly - your therapy will always remain within your budget and control. We will work together, to help you explore the way you feel now and help you move towards a more positive, hopeful future.
I am currently offering Zoom and telephone sessions.
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Practice and a Certificate in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills. I can also incorporate approaches from cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT). My training is grounded in Person Centred counselling, allowing me to draw on Humanist and Psychodynamic modalities but I can also work in an integrative way. This means I offer you flexibility and choice. Your treatment plan may involve working with just one therapeutic approach or combining them in a powerful, integrative way. We can discuss what is the best approach for you and your goals.
My first sessionPrior to the first session we will have a brief telephone conversation. I will then forward you some paperwork outlining the ethical framework I follow and the practicalities of how the session run. We will discuss and complete this in our first session.
We will begin to explore your reasons for coming to counselling and explore your goals.
