About me and my therapy practice

If you are looking for a warm, safe and confidential space to explore issues that may be causing you difficulty, then I welcome you to my practice. Through counselling, I can support you to face what feels difficult. Together we will work to ease your distress.

I offer both face-to-face sessions in my Oxford office and online sessions.

You do not need to have a specific issue for which you are seeking help. Many people seek out counselling as a means of dealing with unhelpful or difficult feelings, such as overwhelming anxiety, stress, sadness, or because they are feeling stuck in a way of thinking or being. However, there are also some specific aspects of lived experience that I can support you to work through, which you'll find below.

I adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s code of ethics for practitioners. I take data security seriously, and you can read about how I will handle your data on my website https://www.oxfordcounsellingtherapy.com

Practice description

I am an integrative, humanistic, psychotherapeutic counsellor with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a BA (Hons.) degree in Psychology. As a humanistic counsellor, I strongly believe in every person's right to determine their own lives and believe counselling can support you to achieve that.

I draw on my integrative training in Person-centred counselling, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis in my counselling approach. This means that an exploration of your unique experience of the world lies at the heart of the work we will do together.

I have worked with a diverse range of clients in different settings, including voluntary sector organisations. I also have a deep interest in how the personal and cultural interact to create our experiences of the world that led to my completing a Masters in Social Anthropology from Oxford University.

My first session

Our first session will be different to our subsequent sessions. It will involve exploring together what is bringing you to counselling. I will also ask you about your current situation. For example, I may ask you about your current job, relationships, family history, health concerns.

It will give you the opportunity to decide if you would like to work with me. It is useful for you to ask yourself whether you would feel you could talk to me, how comfortable you feel with me, how safe you feel talking to me.

I will give you information about my working practices and we will talk through matters pertaining to the confidentiality of our work.
