Availability

I have availability for appointments within my practice. I work weekdays from 8 am to 7 pm. I see clients face to face at my consulting room at Terapia, which is a Psychotherapy Training Centre, and where I am able to use their rooms to counsel. The space is very calming and is in a beautiful natural setting. Clients often comment at how pleasant it is to come there.

I have an alternative consulting room at 1-7 Harley Street, Marylebone. Fees are £110 for a session.

I take holidays but I always give plenty of notice to clients. I also work on Zoom and am trained to do so, and sometimes I will continue therapy online during those periods if it is acceptable to clients.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a counsellor/psychotherapist and I work integratively, which means I combine person-centred counselling, listening, being non-judgemental, empathising and reflecting back,  CBT which is a shorter-term results-based therapy involving some homework from clients and also psychodynamic therapy, looking at the unconscious mind and bringing thoughts into consciousness and looking back at childhood experiences and the way they have impacted the client's view of the world currently.

I have worked with individuals over several years now, counselling people from a diverse range of circumstances and with a multitude of difficulties to work with. These have been relationship issues, family problems, esteem issues, bereavement, in fact any matter that is causing a person to feel that their mental health has been affected and it is preventing them from living a fulfilling and happy life.

I am also a parent to two adult boys and this experience has helped me enormously in my practice. I have worked in industry for 35 years as a manager so I’m also very knowledgeable about workplace issues and difficulties.

Practice description

Speaking with a counsellor is a process that sometimes takes weeks and in some instances takes much longer. My work is client-led, meaning that I tailor my sessions to the needs of the individual client and help them through talking therapy, to reach their own conclusions and solutions. Talking therapy with a person who is non-judgemental and completely separate from a peson's circle of people in their lives, can be helpful and cathartic to them, and often it helps a person to see their issues in a new light, because they are able to express their feelings freely. Together, we work collaboratively to help find strategies and solutions to move forward.

My first session

During the first session we will talk through the contract that I supply to you, which explains how the sessions are conducted and information about confidentiality. We can then move to talking about what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to get from the sessions.

I don't ask for my clients to complete assessments at our first meeting, as I really want to engage with them fully in discussion and learn about them through our initial conversation, so that I can get a sense of what it is that they need from me and think that through for our next session.
