About me and my therapy practice
My approach is integrative in that I use theories from several schools of thought to adapt the counselling to suit your needs and your reason for coming to therapy. Above all, I believe that it is in our relationships with others that we can learn about ourselves and work towards a better quality of life. As such I usually do work with clients on their history and most importantly focus on the ways in which it may impact their present.
Counselling aims to provide a safe place where you can voice your thoughts and feelings as well as explore things that might be troubling you in an accepting and unbiased environment.
With the help of your counsellor you can work to identify the parts of yourself and the aspects of your history that might be holding you back in your personal growth. This will allow you to develop a better understanding of who you are as an individual and in relation to others. With this knowledge you can find a balance between accepting those parts of yourself that cannot be changed and finding the strength to work on those that can.
My first session
I usually encourage clients to seek contact with a few therapists to decide which they feel most comfortable working with. For this reason I offer the first session without a contract so that we can spend some time getting a feeling for what working together might be like.
